What Is Subaru Loves to Care?
Subaru Loves to Care is one of the key pillars of the Subaru Love Promise—a commitment to support communities and create meaningful change in people’s lives. This initiative is dedicated to showing compassion for cancer patients and their families by providing small but powerful gestures of care, like warm blankets, care kits, and handwritten messages of hope. These acts may seem simple, but for patients who often spend long hours in treatment centers, they offer real comfort and a reminder that they are not alone.
Every three minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. The journey through treatment can be exhausting—physically, emotionally, and financially—leaving many patients feeling weak, cold, and isolated. Subaru Loves to Care steps in to ease those burdens, reminding patients that their communities stand beside them. With every blanket delivered and every note shared, Subaru helps spark encouragement and connection during the moments when it’s needed most.
National Impact
On a national level, Subaru has made a lasting impact through Subaru Loves to Care by standing with patients in their fight against cancer. Since 2016, Subaru and its retailers have partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) to deliver hundreds of thousands of blankets, care kits, and personal messages of hope to patients undergoing treatment across the country. These donations may seem small, but to patients enduring the side effects of chemotherapy and long hours in infusion chairs, the comfort and warmth they provide are deeply meaningful. By the end of 2025, Subaru and LLS will have supported nearly 500,000 cancer patients nationwide.
Subaru is proud to be LLS’s largest automotive donor, and through the collective efforts of more than 630 retailers nationwide, has helped expand support beyond the hospital walls. Together, they contribute to LLS’s Urgent Need programs, which provide essential non-medical assistance such as food, housing, transportation, and utilities for patients and their families. These resources ensure that patients can focus on healing without being overwhelmed by the pressures of everyday living. This broad network of compassion shows that when communities unite with care, their impact extends far beyond the treatment room.
Subaru Loves to Care at Lee’s Summit Subaru
At Lee’s Summit Subaru, we believe that caring for one another is the heart of a strong and thriving community. That’s why we are proud to support Subaru Loves to Care, one of the core pillars of the Subaru Love Promise. This initiative allows us to join forces with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and local hospitals to bring not just blankets and care kits, but also hope, comfort, and encouragement to patients right here in our community who are bravely facing cancer.
For us, this commitment is more than just a program—it’s personal. We see the strength, resilience, and courage of patients and their families here in Lee’s Summit, and we know how important it is to show up with compassion. When we deliver these small gestures, we are delivering reminders that no one has to face cancer alone. By combining Subaru’s nationwide reach with the personal connections we foster locally, we are able to brighten some of the darkest days. Through Subaru Loves to Care, Lee’s Summit Subaru is proud to stand alongside our neighbors, proving that community care truly makes a difference.
Local Impact at Lee’s Summit Subaru
While Subaru Loves to Care touches lives across the country, here at Lee’s Summit Subaru we are proud to bring that same spirit of compassion to our own community. In 2025, we joined Saint Luke’s East Hospital and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the Subaru Loves to Care initiative, hand-delivering blankets and patient care kits to local cancer patients. Each year, our team looks forward to personally delivering these gifts, taking time to connect with patients and share moments of comfort and encouragement.
This commitment is also personal for our General Sales Manager, McCall Witt, whose passion for Subaru Loves to Care was inspired by her aunt’s battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. In 2020, McCall led the Kansas City LLS Man & Woman of the Year campaign, raising $83,275 toward the city’s total of $614,767. Her dedication exemplifies the heart of Subaru Loves to Care: sharing kindness, supporting our community, and making a real difference.
Our involvement also extends through previous years. In 2024, we partnered with The Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Lee’s Summit Medical Center and LLS Kansas to provide blankets, patient care kits, and heartfelt messages of hope written by our customers and staff. In both 2023 and 2022, we worked closely with the amazing staff at Lee’s Summit Medical Center to deliver blankets, arts & crafts kits, and thoughtful notes to patients and their families. Each delivery reminded us of the strength of those fighting cancer and the importance of showing up with care and encouragement.
Every year, we also invite our customers to take part by writing personal notes of hope at our Subaru Loves to Care display. These messages are delivered alongside the blankets and kits, serving as a reminder that patients have a whole community behind them.
For us, Subaru Loves to Care is more than a program—it’s a promise. By supporting local hospitals, standing with patients, and spreading kindness, we’re helping build a stronger, more compassionate Lee’s Summit. Because when we care for one another, we all grow stronger together.
