What Is Subaru Loves Pets?
Subaru Loves Pets is part of the Subaru Love Promise, a pledge to create positive change in the communities where we live and work. At its heart, this initiative is about helping pets and the people who love them thrive. According to the ASPCA®, approximately 6.5 million animals entered U.S. shelters in 2023, many living day after day without the love of a family or a home. Subaru believes that all pets deserve a loving home, which is why we are the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Through Subaru Loves Pets, Subaru and its retailers work to improve the lives of as many shelter animals as possible. Every October, Subaru retailers partner with local animal organizations to help prepare shelter pets for adoption through grants administered by the ASPCA and host pet events at their stores. For us at Lee’s Summit Subaru, it’s about more than donations—it’s about fostering the bond between pets and their families and showing our community that we care about every four-legged friend.

Subaru Loves Pets at Lee’s Summit Subaru
At Lee’s Summit Subaru, we know firsthand how much pets mean to families—they bring joy, love, and companionship that brighten everyday life. That’s why Subaru Loves Pets is especially close to our hearts. Each year, we proudly partner with local shelters and rescues to help dogs and cats find their forever homes, while also supporting the organizations that provide them with food, medical care, and safe shelter during their wait.
Our efforts go beyond donations. We host adoption events at our dealership, welcome rescue organizations to connect with the community, and encourage our customers to get involved by bringing supplies, meeting adoptable pets, and even taking home new family members. For us, these events are more than community gatherings—they are moments where lives change, both for the pets and for the families who welcome them.

Local Impact at Lee’s Summit Subaru
At Lee’s Summit Subaru, our local impact centers on our partnership with Midwest Animal ResQ, a dedicated organization improving the lives of pets and their families in our community. We support Midwest Animal ResQ year-round by accepting donations and hosting 10 annual on-site adoption events and 5 virtual adoption events. Customers can bring donations in exchange for “Subie Swag” and a chance to win a grand prize, while the shelter brings many of the dogs available for adoption.
We have also participated in 30 Dogtober Fests, collecting donations, giving out Subie Swag, and offering additional giveaways—all while helping local pets find loving homes and supporting a cause close to the hearts of area pet lovers. Guests can enter to win a Subaru Pet Kit, including a collapsible pet kennel, Subaru Pet Bed, and pet lover license plate frame. Admission is free with a donation of dry or canned dog food for the Dog Food Drive, making it a day full of fun for both dogs and their humans.
One very special moment came in 2021, when Thor, our Pawfessional Consultant, was adopted during one of these events by our Executive Manager, McCall Witt. Thor has since become a staple of our dealership, with many customers visiting just to see him. His story perfectly demonstrates how our local events change lives—both for pets and the people who welcome them into their families. Many of our employees have also left these events with new pets, showing just how meaningful these adoption opportunities can be for our entire dealership family.
