2018 Subaru Outback at our Kansas City Subaru Dealership

Introduction

The 2018 Subaru Outback for sale at Lee’s Summit Subaru, Kansas City has a revised front and rear style that gives the wagon a sophisticated, undeniably fun style. The vehicle has many new design details and state-of-the-art engineering, ensuring drivers enjoy the versatility and enjoyment of this crossover.

The Sport Utility Wagon was the first of its kind in the world, a leading factor in the crossover trend that exploded about 20 years ago. The wagon has exceptional styling, rugged features, and plenty of capabilities. The Outback has 35.5 cubic foot of space behind the rear seats and 73.3 cubic foot with the fold-down rear back seat folded down, making it the vehicle with the most interior space. The Outback has an almost-flat load door, rear seatback release levers, and your choice of four trim lines.

Standard, Premium, Limited Edition and Touring trims are available. The Limited and Touring are available in a 3.6R model, while the Touring, the most luxurious of the four trim lines, also offers drivers perforated leather-trimmed upholstery and an armrest in a gorgeous Java Brown color, ivory-stitched armrests, heated steering wheel, piano-black switch panel accents, and wood grain trim. The Touring trim certainly lives up to its high expectations, delivering performance and style where it counts.

Performance

Practical, yet powerful is the best way to describe the new Subaru Outback, a sport utility wagon with a 2.5i, 175-HP double overhead cam 2.5-liter BOXER engine delivering 174 lb-ft of torque. Improved fuel economy is yours thanks to the Active Grille Shutter system that minimizes wind resistance.

Inside the 3.6R Outback is a 3.6-liter, 6-cylinder BOXER engine offering 256-HP with 247 lb-ft of torque.

Each vehicle has Lineartronic CVT with a seven-speed manual mode and paddle shift control switches. The 2018 model is smoother, more fun to drive, thanks to the returned electronic control unit, or the ECU. The Outback has both Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (standard in all Subaru models) and Active Torque Vectoring, enabling the vehicle to confidently handle all weather conditions it encounters. The electronically-managed continuously variable transfer clutch helps maintain the proper torque distribution, calculated by the acceleration, deceleration, and the traction available. There’s even an 8.7-inch ground clearance, excelling many of the crossovers sold today.

X-Mode is offered on the Outback. This feature optimizes the engine output and CVT ratio position, uses VDC control logic to reduce wheel spin, and all-wheel drive engagement. X-Mode also activates a feature called Hill Descent Control, a feature that uses the braking system to maintain consistent speed when driving the vehicle downhill. Hill Start Assist is also included.

Quiet & Responsive

The Outback has been enhanced for the 2018 model, offering a smooth, safe ride, and overall enjoyable driving experience. The Outback has electronic power steering, and a short-pitch chain for a quieter engine.

There’s sound-insulating glass on the front side windows, and thicker rear windows to reduce noises from the vehicle’s rear.

Comfortable Ride for All

The premium materials used in the 2018 Outback available at our Kansas City Subaru dealership offer the driver and passengers comfort for short and long distance trips. There’s a redesigned center console featuring an 8-inch display screen for all your multimedia needs. Choose the Premium or better trim and you’ll enjoy genuine dashboard stitching. The Touring and Limited models include door panel stitching in silver color bezels and black trim. A gray interior is also available.

Subaru tradition brings those unexpected comforts that drivers want and need. Sometimes those traditions are seen, but this isn’t always the case. The new air conditioning unit in the Outback is one of those unseen enjoyments. It operates quietly, but provides quick cooling time and a control dial for easier, more intuitive use. The interior power is retained after ignition shut off for a short spell, ensuring you maximize your cool comfort. There’s also a redesigned clock that you can easily read thanks to the great LED display and larger numbers.

Improved Multimedia

With the Subaru STARLINK Multimedia system built-in, the 2018 Subaru Outback available at Lee’s Summit Subaru, Kansas City puts drivers on the forefront of technology and efficiency. With Bluetooth wireless capability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smartphone integration, and iPod control to start, the STARLINK system has the features drivers want and need.

Purchase the Touring trim and the STARLINK system also offers two USB ports found on the rear passenger seatback center console and Tom-Tom navigation included for three years. Updated maps are included.

The standard 6.5-inch multimedia system is sleeker and quicker than the previous 6.2-inch system. Upgrade to the STARLINK 8.0-inch system and enjoy a central touchscreen display that works similarly to a smartphone. There are also smartphone-related operations that enhance the user experience without the need to take your eyes from the road.

Voice recognition has been improved in the 2018 model, thanks to Nuance technology that uses two microphones and enhanced technology. Outback drivers can use Siri or OK Google in multiple languages and with easier usage.

Toughness and Safety

The Subaru Outback for sale at our Kansas City Subaru dealership continues to be a tough vehicle but now it has been given an elegant touch. If anything, it has an even more rugged look this year due to its broad bottom grille openings and a bumper that accents the well-known hexagon grille of the Subaru brand. Another signature of Subaru is its Boxer engine, and the exterior lights and lines are meant to draw attention to this core technology.

There is increased protection from the elements when going off-road because of reinvented front cladding, and the wheel designs for the various models enhance the look.

This vehicle has always been safe, but now there is a greater variety of driver-assist features. You can get Steering Responsive Headlights together with the LED headlights and these will automatically follow the steering into turns. There is even High Beam Assist on the Outback Limited and Touring models (with Eyesight Driver Assist Technology) so that the driver never has to worry about when to turn the high beams on and off.
