Segment-Exclusive DriverFocus Safety Technology

Subaru being a leader in the industry when it comes to safety has created DriverFocus, a groundbreaking system to assist with the issue of distracted driving for novices and even the most seasoned drivers. Implementing facial recognition software to detect indications of driver distraction and signs of driver fatigue, the DriverFocus system monitors driving for safer roads everywhere. The award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology works in conjunction with DriverFocus to decrease the risk and probability of being in an accident. Up to five different drivers can utilize this system that remembers climate, seat position, and multifunction display presets for each driver.

The state of the art Forester is the leader of its segment and one of the first vehicles in the industry that addresses the major problem of distracted driving by developing this technology. This safety system will come standard on Touring models.

Added Performance and Power

A new version of the V4 cylinder 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER engine powers all 2019 Foresters, with increased compression and direct fuel injection plus an exhaust side active valve control system (AVCS). The Forester takes a leap up from the previous version running at 170 horsepower and 174 pounds per foot of torque, to the new engine that runs at 182 horsepower with 176 pounds per foot of torque.

Lineartronic CVT comes standard in all 2019 Foresters, enabling faster acceleration than its predecessor, and an impressive fuel efficiency of 33 miles per gallon (pending EPA certification manufacturers estimate). There is a unique manual mode that the CVT features in the Sport and Touring Foresters that can mimic a manual seven-speed transmission utilizing the steering wheel paddle shift control switches.

A standard driver-selectable SI-DRIVE system augments flexibility for driving conditions by allowing the driver to individually conform the throttle characteristics with an option of either ‘Sport’ or ‘Intelligent’ modes (Forester Sport Sharp). While the ‘Sport’ mode coordinates the throttle for performance enhancement, the ‘Intelligent’ mode aids with leveling out accelerator inputs to save fuel.

Subaru Safety from Start to Finish

Every 2019 Forester comes standard with lead vehicle start alert, a warning system for lane departure and sway, automatic pre-collision braking system and throttle management, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep assist, all encompassed in the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.

The latest version of the Subaru reinforcement frame composition has a ring-like shape that has been improved constantly over almost twenty years to provide exceptional driver and passenger collision protection.

High Beam Assist is included on the Sport, Limited, and Touring versions of the Forester. Headlights with steering response function are included with the Limited and Touring versions.

Added in the 2019 Forester for the first time is a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that illustrates the pressure of each individual tire. The cutting-edge Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) uses yaw sensors to oversee trailer sway and stabilize the trailer and vehicle by braking each wheel individually.

The new automatic power unlock and lock system has an integrated power locking fuel door that comes standard on all Foresters. The owner has the ability to set unlocking and locking preferences, and the system will lock all doors including the fuel door and rear gate after the vehicle reaches 13 mph.

Spacious and Quiet with Maximum Comfort

The Subaru Global Platform has changed the way you drive and ride forever with its intrinsic immunity to noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). Subaru has worked to considerably reduce road noise and make listening to music and having a conversation at moderate speeds easy by dialing out specific frequencies.

Standard with all Forester models, automatic climate control (Limited and Touring include dual zone) plus the front seats with heating functionality have gone from two-stage control in its predecessor to three-stage control. Also new in the 2019 Foresters are rear seats that have heating functionality, and push-button start with keyless access come standard with the Sport, Limited, and Touring versions and are optional in the Premium version.

SUBARU STARLINK connected services now work in combination with the push button start and keyless access to provide a remote engine start using the MySubaru smartphone application. The application also provides you with the ability to access climate controls through the app when you activate the remote engine start.

You have more space to spread out in the 2019 Subaru Forester, and when you want to fold down the seats for more cargo space, the floor now lays flatter than ever before. The maximum width of the rear door opening gate has been increased by 5.3 inches from its predecessor and is now up to eight inches more than some of its biggest contenders. There have been considerable gains in head, hip, and shoulder room to give you and your passengers a spacious feeling cabin that is more comfortable than ever before. The increased wheelbase has allowed for more rear-seat legroom that has gone from 38 inches in the previous model to 39.4 inches in the 2019 Forester.
