The 2018 Subaru Forester Remains a Top Choice for Kansas Drivers

The 2018 Subaru Forester has a traditional design but still holds its own in the very tough line of compact crossovers. The features included in this model keep it one of the top-selling models for the Subaru lineup.

The 2018 Subaru Forester gives you a 360-degree view around you with its wide side windows and high roof. The Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive pairs well with the 8.7-inch ground clearance to give you the ability to go off-roading in this versatile crossover. You can even get a manual transmission with some of the Premium trims as well.

The 2018 Subaru Forester has many great features that include interior comfort, low noise levels, a wide variety of available equipment and great overall ride and handling. The XT models have a ton of power as well as upgrades to the frame, suspension, brakes, and steering. The Forester also offers EyeSight driver-assist on many of the different trims available and these things make for one of the most comfortable and safe rides out there.

New for 2018

Subaru is introducing a new Black Edition package for the 2.5i Premium model in 2018. This new Black Edition will include black wheels and trim, LED headlights that respond to steering, paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel, and four different paint choices.

The 2.0XT Forester gains you torque-vectoring technology while the Touring trim comes standard with Eyesight driver-assist and navigation. The models that have the Eyesight-assist also come with automatic high-beam assist and reverse auto braking.

A few other things that are great to mention about the new 2018 Subaru Forester is the excellent fuel economy, the child-seat-friendly back seat, the off-road ability, turbo mode, the safety options, the available manual transmission, of course, the reasonable price. The price range falls from $23,710 to $37,000.

An Economical Ride

The 2018 Subaru Forester in Kansas City comes with a standard boxer 2.5-liter engine with 4 cylinders that has 174 lb-ft of torque and 170 horsepower. The 2.5-liter has earned an approximate 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway rating. There is a six-speed manual that comes standard on the Premium and base models. This gives you a little less fuel economy with 22 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway.

The XT gives you more power with a 2.0-liter direct-injection engine that will give you 258 lb-ft of torque and 250 horsepower. This engine will give you 23 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway.

Subaru is really committed to the safety of its customers. Not only are the standard government safety features loaded into the 2018 Forester, but they have surpassed that and added additional protection in the form of a reinforced passenger compartment frame and a knee bag for the driver.

Crash testing done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration give the Forester the highest overall ranking. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated the 2017 Subaru Foreste for its superior accident avoidance technology and made it their top pick for highway driving.

Driving Feel

When driving the Forester on Kansas City roads you will notice the smooth ride of the 2.5-liter engine. The quiet operation and superior acceleration strength give this small car a solid feel.

If you are looking for a sporty ride, then the XT trim will provide you with a stiffer chassis, increased spring capacity and bigger brakes. The XT trim has 18-inch tires which help to improve the handling and does not affect the comfort of the ride or increase engine noise. There is a real joy found in driving the XT with the rush of power you receive from the turbo engine. The Forester offers models in the XT with a CVT with a version of the SI-Drive system, previously found in the WRX. So if you are looking for a versatile Subaru that can go from zero to 60 in 6.2 seconds, the new 2018 Forester is the must-have of the year.
